Most common formats are accepted. Copy a location from any map app and paste it into your message.

Most satellite messengers can include your current location automatically.

  • Units° ' " or deg min sec. Can be omitted for decimal degrees.
  • DirectionCardinal (N/S and E/W) or a minus sign for south and west.
  • SeparatorsSeparate latitude and longitude with a space or a comma.

Where to find them
  • Google Maps — press and hold a spot on the map, tap the address on the place card to expand, then tap the coordinates to copy.
  • Apple Maps — press and hold a spot on the map; the coordinates are on the place card.
  • iOS Compass — your current coordinates are at the bottom of the screen. Press and hold to copy.
  • CalTopo — press and hold a spot on the map, or tap the coordinates in the top-right.
  • Gaia GPS — tap a spot on the map, then press and hold the coordinates on the place card.
  • Also works with onX, Garmin Explore, Earthmate, and more.
Any app that shows a location's coordinates will do. Look for a "copy" or "share" option, or type them as shown. Generally, two decimal places (about 1 km) is plenty for a forecast.
On a satellite messenger
Most satellite messengers can attach your current location for you. When this is enabled, you can skip writing the coordinates in your message, but coordinates you write yourself will still take priority.

An attached location also replaces the one from your previous request when you send last.
